Don't ask about the title. I don't even know what's going on there. It popped into my head and I typed it in. C:
This is my entry for =Sythgara's easkull contest, which ends on Feb. 7th. You can check it out here. This is her character, Yaru. I'm not really familiar with her, but anyway, the idea behind this piece is that every once in a while, people want to go on an adventure, they want to do something exciting, or they just want to feel free. When I thought about that theme, this picture came to mind, which was really great considering I spent three days wondering what the hell I was going to draw. LOL.
So, yeah, this is the outcome. I am really, really happy with the way this came out. This is one of the few works I've done that I can't actually find anything wrong with. Usually I can see something that sticks out like a giant bloody nail on an otherwise perfect. . . wooden thing. I'm really not sure where I was going with that, but whatever. If it gets the point across, then it'll do. xD
Also, the background. I should probably say something about that. I didn't actually draw that. I took a photograph into GIMP and used the oilify filter, then played around with the colors, added some stuff. The rocky ledge? THAT IS MINE. I actually managed to fucking draw that thing, and it looks pretty damn good, if I do say so myself.
I AM FULLY SATISFIED WITH THIS DRAWING. And it was just a hell of a joy to draw. I love this species, love the design and everything about them.
Took approximately 7 hours to complete, though. Because for some reason I take forever to draw anything. I drew for five and a half hours straight yesterday, only stopped once to eat. That did not do any good at all for my shoulders and back. My eyes were completely fine by the end of it, surprisingly.
But thank you very much <3
Really liking the background, looks really good~ And the character itself looks so alive. c:
